Delgado wasn’t concerned

I spoke with Carlos Delgado this morning about why he didn’t call the Mets when his hip acted up over the winter.
He said he would periodically feel something, but it wasn’t a sharp pain and it didn’t persist.
“Sometimes, something just doesn’t feel right,” he said.
Then it went away.
If the pain was severe and continual he might have said something.

I defended him all year last season, but this is unexcusable. All the millions he gets paid and he wouldn’t say hey guys I got a pain I shouldn’t have????
It’s a former star in denial that his career is over… putting his delusion ahead of his team.
You get older just to get old and you get a team of Delgados and El Duques, wandering around pretending they’re not injured and… whining that they don’t have to prove because they were so good a long time ago.
2006 is not a long time ago. And do you run to the Dr. every time something doesn’t feel right?
We haven’t even played a meaningful game yet.
If I were a professional athlete, and I should know normal pain from not normal pain, I would definitely let the trainer or team Dr know that something “doesn’t feel right”. I don’t think he’s one of the people who have to worry about the health plan.
