He's the thirteenth person with an injury on this team. Isn't that a bit unusual?
John, I think you should start a "Who Gets Injured Today Pool"...I'm going to guess that Wednesday's injury will be to Anderson Hernandez.
It seems the Mets conditioning program didn't exist.
Across town, Joe "Bootcamp" Girardi warned his team over the winter by writing them all letters about getting in shape before coming to Spring Training. Said there would be a lot of running every day.
Giambi is so thin that he's able to tuck in his shirt.
I can't consider "injuries" that are not muscle driven to be caused by poor conditioning, notwithstading Abreu and Scheinder. The other 11 are caused by freak accidents (Sanchez, Church, Anderson) or are rehab from surgeries.
You could argue that players should have been in better shape coming off surgery. But it is not as clear cut as a muscle pull.
Besides the 2 you mention I see problesm with Delgado working out with hip pain and nobody knowing, Did they even ask him if he felt pain all Winter? did they know Baltran and Castillo weren't recuperating? Did they even ask? Did they not see Sanchez in action since he lived in St Lucie for too long this Winter…. They didn't even apparently know that El Duque didn't get his foot fixed!!!! Maybe it isn't all the trainers but there are so many problems with this organization's management. Its like we'll get a star every couple years and everything will work out by magic.
