GM Omar Minaya insists nothing is wrong with reliever Duaner Sanchez.
Although Sanchez isn’t on the list of Mets’ scheduled pitchers for the week, Minaya said he would pitch.
“We want to give him enough time to rest,” Minaya said.
John, I had read somewhere today that the reason Sanchez isn’t appearing on the list of probable pitchers this week is that they don’t want to deal with the inevitable speculation should they decide to scratch him, as they had done last week.
baby steps..baby steps. Which leads me to believe there is no way he is starting in the majors this year. He’ll be in St.Lucie after the team breaks for NY IMO. The guy has missed a year and a half. I don’t know why I am just realizing now that he doesn’t have a chance to make it out of ST.
It’s a long season. I’ve heard that ST is more for the hitters than the pitchers these days, since ballplayers all work out all winter long, they’re not going to ST to get in shape as much as it’s to get their timing down.
No need to rush Duque or Sanchez. It’s a long season.
The fact that they won’t commit whether it be b/c they don’t want to have to explain why he was scratched or b/c he is not ready is not a positie sign in any way, shape or form.
If Sanchez was ready, he would be on the list.
