Marlon Anderson has a bruised sternum from his collision with Ryan Church.
“The ball was over my shoulder and I didn’t see him until the last second,’’ said Anderson, adding Church did not lose consciousness. It appeared Church might have hit his head and is being checked for a concussion.
Anderson will have a CT scan later today.

What’s is with professional baseball players either not calling for the ball or ignoring someone who has? Really ticks me off…I learned that in little league.
To BH: Anderson said he didn’t call for it and didn’t hear anything from Church. I have not spoken with Church.-JD
Sounds like Church has no clue if he called for it or not, and will probably never recall. I know in loud stadiums, or when neither is sure he’ll get there (such as Beltran/Cameron) it is a tad bit tougher, but it seems like collisions happen far more than they should.
you could see church calling for the ball on the broadcast. Anderson did not hear him or heard him too late. Plus, both these guys are out of their normal positions.
