Mets Report

Score: Detroit 4, Mets 2
Spring record: 0-1
Game breakdown: Mike Pelfrey was sharp, giving up one hit in two scoreless innings. “I think I did some things right and it’s a starting point at getting better,’’ Pelfrey said. … Ramon Castro drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the first and Anderson Machado tripled in a run in the second. … Detroit scored four runs in the seventh off reliever Willie Collazo.
Clubhouse chatter: It’s not like back home, but it was cold by Florida standards. So cold the Mets served hot soup in the clubhouse before the game. Said Marlon Anderson: “I think we drove all the way to Detroit.’’
What’s next: Today vs. St. Louis, at Jupiter, Fla., 1:05 p.m.
