PODCAST: Pelfrey sharp

February

Mike Pelfrey was impressive this afternoon, giving up one hit in two scoreless innings against the Tigers.

Pelfrey entered the game wanting to establish his fastball and challenge hitters in the zone, which he was able to do by falling behind only one batter. For this early in the spring, he flashed dominance.

Listen to Pelfrey as he spoke with us in the Mets’ clubhouse.

good to hear pelf was sharp.

JD, what do you think his problem was last yr. Mental? or was it that Peterson tried to change him into something he is not (a control pitcher)? or was it that his off speed stuf was not (and still might not be) ready?

scoop – I think it was confidence to be honest. I think he was still a little intimitated by MLB hitters. It's the old cliche…he needs to learn to trust his stuff. What I saw a guy who was trying to be too fine and worried too much about his off-speed stuff. I think for Pelfrey his start at Atlanta at the end of the season could prove to be the turning point. He threw strikes and dominated a pretty formidable line-up.

Mets Poll
The perjury charges are adding up for Barry Bonds. Barring a miracle, all indications are he used steroids. Assuming this plays out where he's guilty, I believe Selig should place an asterisk to Bonds' HR totals. Agree or disagree?
