Hey big Q… i was unfortunate enough to have to go to work in that beutiful section of your miserable city known as the Navy Yard. If that’s what makes you proud so be it. I remember the first time I had to go that wonderful hood. The people told me to not even go by Metro in the daylight it was such a good neighborhood. Be proud. Be proud that you caouldn’t even get a team to spend some $$ to build your new dump. 30 year lease .. Its probably as sound as a college football coach’s contract.

Go Redskins… How does it feel to have that Super Bowl Trophy up I-95 a bit???? Can’t you come up with a less bigoted name for a team while your at it…... Your football team must be worse than the bug baseball team if our d coach wouldn’t even go there to be head coach. The Skins must suck worse than the Navy Yard partr of town you are so proud of. Even your hoops team. Who desigend the ugliest road uni in the history of pro sports? Maybe one of you 2 nats. Even your college hoops. Supposed to be bright ones in G-town and all they can think iof is to wear shirts with a 3 on it cause their coach is the 3rd. What an embarrassment. And worst of all you play host to Bush/Cheyney. Boy are you lucky.

Dave, I think what is so good about Manny is that he is stroking egos and holding players accountable at the same time. He benched players (Church being one of them) for not hustling out a ground out. I’ll mostly stay away from BigQ’s comments to Sloppy, other then I figured someone from DC would strike back.

Sloppy. Thanks for pointing out the flaws in our city that you obviously know so well. We all know that the Rat Trap which is NYC is just the cleanest crime-free place on the planet. As for selling out your stadium. You should sell out. You have about 20 million people with a team that’s been around for almost 40 years! You shouldn’t want a biscuit for selling 40,000 seats. We just got baseball back give us time. We are moving in the right direction. So clean off the rat droppings off your stove and worry about your own team.

Point taken; add to that a new ballpark with more batter-friendly dimensions and it will make for an interesting adjustment. If they can keep our pitchers off the DL for extended periods, the nats could surprise a few folks. We’ll see.

Tim, while I like your young OF as well as Zimmerman, your pitching has a ways to go. The Mets, Braves, and Phillies (and maybe even the Marlins) all have better starting pitching than the Nats.

Maybe it is the optimism of Spring, but the Nats may do better than 4th. Not so sure of the NL East title (gotta be grounded in some sense of the word).

We have 4 perennial All Stars (Reyes, Wright, Beltran, and Johan), a future Hall of Fame pitcher who is still very effective (Pedro), one of the best closers in the game (Wagner), two young pitchers on the rise (Maine and Perez), and we were able to hold onto our two best prospects (Fmart and Pelfrey) when obtaining the best pitcher on the planet.

And what you call trashing someone else’s team, I call pointing out an opponents foibles. Bowden may have made some good moves, but you’re still finishing in 4th. But hey, what do I “no” anyway?

Typical New Yorkers. Can’t find anything positive about your situation (team), so you resort to trashing someone elses team (or make personal attacks). You obviously no little about the situation here (3o year lease, the team isn’t going anywhere). It’s five sentences because Shallow brooks are noisy (maybe you can all band togther and figure out what I mean by that). Get some knowledge about our city before you start talking trash.

Sloppy, perhaps extended was the wrong choice because of the connotation it implies. However, Milledge did get a pretty decent look in ‘06. I distinctly remember them hoping he would play himself onto the postseason roster.

Sloppy…you followed the 5 sentence rule, so congrats on that. The Navy Yard is under a huge re-devolopment plan, so no worries about muggings here. The fans will be here as well…for years to come. Maybe you Mets fans should have less cops next year around the stadium and more therapists, just in case you have another monumental collapse next September.

We here in DC think Milledge will be a great addition to our team. Enjoy the whiffle bats of Church and Schneider. Schneider is a decent (albeit quiet) leader who is good with the pitchers.

Still waiting on that compelling evidence that makes everyone so cocksure Milledge is a future star.

Also, let’s not forget that Milledge got an extended look in 2006 and didn’t do much with it.

And this doesn’t prove that the Mets handled him well, because they didn’t. But there are two sides to this story, and Millz is somewhat culpable for how this turned out as well.
