It’s their team and they can charge if they want to. The Mets started charging $2 for those 15 and over to attend practice. They started yesterday and will through Monday. Their first exhibition game is Tuesday against the University of Michigan.
St. Lucie Mets GM Paul Taglieri said all proceeds will go to charity: “It was looked at as an opportunity to give back to the area.’’
It’s estimated roughly 1,500 fans attend the Mets practices.

JD, can we get some info on the young pitchers?
I don’t have a problem with charging for attendance. Especially at the price noted and the money is going to charity. That’s approximately $3000 for some local organization(s).
John..you seem more often than not to have a negative tone to your posts regarding the Mets….be it policy, players, conversations. You are entitled to your opinions, but I can’t help but wonder if you enjoyed your time with the Yanks more and resent this assignment. Sorry, but that’s how it appears to me.
Two dollars for charity is fine. I don’t see any problems with that.
JD – I agree with the first poster. I read somewhere that Willie was impressed with the young guns. What is your take?
An opportunity to give back to the area? Reach in your own pocket. There’s an opportunity.
hell, i’ll have a negative tone too. mets fans already contribute to the economy of PSL plenty. sure, if a fan can afford to fly down to florida they aren’t hurting. this just smacks of taking advantage of fans just one more time. how about the mets donate 50% of the parking concession to charity?
Taking advantage? The proceeds go to charity. Give me a break.
