Mets Chat Room: What’s on your mind?

Of course, they all look good in the bullpen. But, I’m looking forward to the games starting. There’s always something that can be learned when they start playing. Always some questions that pop up.
For example, how healthy is Orlando Hernandez? Duque said he didn’t have surgery to remove a bunion on his right foot, but to fix a dislocated toe. He said it has thrown off his balance, but is planning on throwing BP Saturday.
If Hernandez isn’t ready, then the fifth starter job would go to Mike Pelfrey. Worth keeping an eye on.
Me? I’m not worried about Oliver Perez losing his arbitration hearing. Scott Boras will simply tell him there’s more to come.

Hey John….
I’m curious to why you wrote this referring to Burgos in an earlier post on your blog about his jewelry being returned.
“He should sell the stuff and put the money into a high-yield account because I’m not so sure this guy is going to be around for a long time.”
is this just an opinion you have, more a feeling,
or do you get a sense mets mgmt has soured on him with the injury, this incident and other stuff he’s been involved with and are looking to dump him?
Thanks.
To Dep: (RE: Burgos): Just a hunch. I can’t imagine they are happy with him. It was poor judgment to have that much with him. He should be concentrating on getting healthy, not in being a fashion plate.-JD
JD, speaking of inuendo, speculation and heresay, Willie stated the other day he was impressed w/Pelfrey.
Is this the first salvo across the Elduqe ship or a way to soften the blow to the press that he won’t be ready come opening day and that Pelfrey is the man?
Given Mets penchant for PR control, I have to wonder.
as for Burgos, he simply might not be around b/c who knows if he will really recover from TJ.
El Duque doesn’t seem very happy, a little upset with all the pen talk. He seemed to come to camp pretty sour, it might be time to move on, the rotation is deep enough…
I think Garcia getting a meeting was a message to El Duque.. even if the kid (Pelf) isn’t ready we have other options…
who knows maybe he’s mad that they didn’t get his brother…
Too bad for El Duque. Can’t push off if you have no balance. I guess the Mets have to think more seriously about depth. This puts Pelf front and center again.
