I think Beltran is more fiery than he comes across. He carries himself very professionally, and he could have been careful in how he wanted to portray himself to the NY media.

But now that he is comfortable in NY and settled in as a team leader he will be more outspoken. I certainly hope this is the case.

The press has a huge impact especially in ny. Most people get their info from them. If you have 20 reporters every day on your butt about one question because it has buzz it becomes a distraction. you cannot say they play no role.

Whether or not Wright is too concerned with saying the wrong thing to the media, is something I could care less about, because frankly, I could care less about the media, they play zero role in all of this. If the Mets take care of their own business, they'll win, its that simple. I'm sure David is stepping up as well in the clubhouse. The fact that he was the first guy to get in touch with Schneider and Church is big in my book. David is the leader. Beltran opening up more is a great too, the more the merrier. I always liked Beltran, and he is who he is, so we shouldn't expect some monumental change in him. But I like what I see so far.
