When Carlos Beltran proclaimed the Mets the team to beat, Philly’s Jimmy Rollins said it showed signs of him being becoming more of a vocal leader.
That hasn’t been lost on Beltran, who said he’ll speak up more this season.
“You don’t always lead by what you do on the field,’’ Beltran said. “I feel fine. I won’t say anything I don’t feel. I will say what’s on my mind.’’
Beltran has been quiet as a Met, but this is a good sign. I want Beltran to speak up more, if for no other reason, than to deflect some of the attention from David Wright.
