Willie’s briefing

February
20

Not much from the manager today. He’s pleased with the first day of having everybody in camp, but I wouldn’t expect him to say anything else.

One interesting note is he didn’t address the team about last season and won’t until the end of spring training when he has his final 25. “Why expose somebody to something that painful who wasn’t even there?’’ is Randolph’s explanation for not opening a vein in front of players who weren’t there last year and won’t make the team.

Willie waxed poetic about Moises Alou and said the rehabbing Jose Valentin will go at his own speed.

Also, Scott Schoeneweis left the team to attend to family business. Randolph said it wasn’t a health issue that would impact his ability to pitch.
