Part of being in the elite group of athletes is havng supreme self confidence in your abilities. Any major leaguer who doesn't think he can figure it out and excel isn't a major leaguer for long. And why is it so bad for the guy to want to make whatever he can???? This hometown discount for a team that will have 4 million go thru the turnatyle and has its own TV network and is getting a new ball park doesn't need a hometown discount. Boras wants to get OP the $$$ that the NYM will not pay, even if he has a great year. The team knows that the Jacket is the secret to OP's sucess and keeps him in check. Once he leaves he'll probably revert back to the wild thing. If I'm him I'd tell Boras to go eff himself, stay with the Mets for another 2-3 years for a market value contract, rack up some more wins, continue working with the Jacket, and then go to the open market for the really big $$$.
