Reyes took collapse personally

February

Jose Reyes just popped into camp and said he takes responsibility, or at least part of it, for last year’s collapse.

“I take it (responsibility) a lot,” Reyes said. “Good things happen when I get on base. When I get on base we’re in position to win the game, but I didn’t get on base.”

Reyes said he lost focus at the end of the season, saying, “that’s baseball.” Manager Willie Randolph said the same, too.

I don’t take that to mean Reyes was being flip, but that’s how the sport works. Unlike some 300-game winners, Reyes took some accountability and said he didn’t play well. This is an important step.

Reyes said he incorporated distance running into his workout routine with the intent of building up his endurance. He said he got tired at the end.

Hard to read an article when half of it is blocked by a picture!

Taking accountability is always good. I just dont want to hear "we can turn it on when we need to" again. they better turn it on and keep it on if they lose with it turned on, fine at least they arent sleeping through the game…

Nice parting shot at a former player :)

I am glad that all these players seem to be looking at what they did wrong last year rather than what someone else didn't do.

As Jose goes so goes the team. There are others of course but he is the first bat you see and that starts off many innings and rallies.
