My first time at Shea – a twi-night double header. The second game went 15 innings, so I had baseball from 5:30PM to 2AM, after driving up from Virginia that day.The next night, I saw Doc Gooden pitch live for the only time. One heck of a weekend!

Hi John-

All my visits to Shea involved Mets games – one memory was when Dwight Gooden hit his first big league home run – you could see his smile from the upper deck where we were sitting.

Other memories from that era were that everything always stopped when Darryl came up to bat, and that Keith Hernandez was always watching everyone on the field – he really was the ‘Field General’. Definitely the best defensive first baseman I’ve ever seen.

Most memorable NY concert? September 19, 1981, Simon and Garfunkle in Central Park.

Watching Bruno Sammartino’s comeback against Stan “The Lariet” Hansen, being at the Met game the night of the big blackout of 1977, and the lack of toilet paper and paper towels at any given bathroom at Shea!!! :-)
