If the guy is supremenly talented, why are you comparing him to Ryan church. He may now cancel his contract.

Mike C: Right on. Except for the fact I am a huge Billy Joel fan, if they could have gotten Sir Paul THAT would have been the way to go.

My first time at Shea - a twi-night double header. The second game went 15 innings, so I had baseball from 5:30PM to 2AM, after driving up from Virginia that day.The next night, I saw Doc Gooden pitch live for the only time. One heck of a weekend!

I think it's kinda sad that... Billy Joel is the last non-baseball hurrah there. I mean... Billy Joel? The Ryan Church of soft rock? Blah, man.

They couldn't get McCartney to crawl outta his hiberbaric chamber or nothin'?

The Who in 198x-something.....can't remember the exact year -- I want to say 84 or 85. But my ears might still be ringing a little bit

Jet games with Namath, Boozer and Snell when the Jets weren't sold out and Giant waiting list was still decades long.

Hi John-

All my visits to Shea involved Mets games - one memory was when Dwight Gooden hit his first big league home run - you could see his smile from the upper deck where we were sitting.

Other memories from that era were that everything always stopped when Darryl came up to bat, and that Keith Hernandez was always watching everyone on the field - he really was the 'Field General'. Definitely the best defensive first baseman I've ever seen.

Most memorable NY concert? September 19, 1981, Simon and Garfunkle in Central Park.

Watching Bruno Sammartino's comeback against Stan "The Lariet" Hansen, being at the Met game the night of the big blackout of 1977, and the lack of toilet paper and paper towels at any given bathroom at Shea!!! :-)
