Updating Santana deal …

The deal is in place, pending negotiating a contract extension and Johan Santana passing a physical. The starting point on the money is six years and $150 million. That’s a lot of money, but the Mets will be moving into a new stadium in 2009 and have the resources.

    Other sites say the deal could be completed tomorrow.

    It would not surprise me. Wilpons would not let Omar go this far to then not close deal.

    Plus Peter Greenberg is Santana’s agent. He is also Reyes’ agent. He seems to work well w/Wilpons.

    You can bet Omar had some “talks” already.
