The Mets will have a conference call this afternoon with Carlos Beltran. No hard news is supposed to come out of that. He’ll no doubt be asked about the collapse and if the team is any better.
That might be it from the Mets until after the holidays. They’ve already spread enough holiday cheer with their 20 percent hike in season tickets. Of course, the Yankees are far worse, in some cases by over 50 percent.
Ho! Ho! Ho!

That might be it on Mets news before…and after the holidays.
Or until ST.
Or until they sign Lohse to a dopey 4 yr deal.
What is even worse about a possible Lohse deal.
If OP has a good season and turns FA, the Coupons could come and say, “we don’t have the money b/c we spent on Lohse!!”.
While the Yankees will be notifying each of their ticket licensees (both full season and partial season ticketholders) in early 2008 of their seat relocation status for the new Yankee stadium, the Mets remain conspicuously silent about the fate of their partial plan holders as they try to bully them into upgrading to full season tickets.

Ask him if he is upset about the possibility that he won’t get to bat against Kyle Lohse next year if the Mets sign him. He’s got an absolutely obscene stat line against him :
15 for 29 with 8 walks 4HR 3 doubles for .519 batting average a .605 on-base percentage and whopping 1.034 slugging percentage. OPS 1.639. It will be a sad day for Beltran if the Mets sign Lohse.
Taylor,
it will be a sad day for all Mets. I think I saw that they hit well over .330 as a team.
It will also be sad for fans b/c he is not good and his contract would prevent Coupons from signing OP when he goes FA.
But I did see ESPN report that Mets won’t go for Lohse. So maybe Coupons say no to Lohse.
I agree. After Omar does what he will do in the offseason he needs to lock up players like Ollie for the long haul. Maine too.
John – Incase you didn’t know u cant say ho ho ho anymore, u have to say ha ha ha.
The Mets 20% ticket increase is phoney. It hides a much bigger increase. I have loge boxes and the seats went up a whopping 43% for the Platinum, Gold and Silver while a very small amount for the bronze and value games. Platinum seats went from $ 82 to $ 117 for example. What they did is keep the percentage to only 20% by including a simple $ 5 seat increase for games very lowly attended like bronze and value, but they raised gold and silver by $ 25 a ticket and platinum a whopping $ 35 a ticket. So the increase for games people actually attend in great numbers is a much higher increase than just 20%.
I am really impresssed that people like you will spend $117 a pop to go and watch Church!! I hope he’s worth the money, but I doubt it. Since Chirch ain’t paid much maybre he just will play in those bargain nights, huh?
METS X-MAS PRESENT TO FANS!!!!!!!!
Juan Padilla signed to minor league deal!!!
Yahoo!!! or should I say HO!HO
Scoop… This is truly big news!!!!! He’ll be on the team sometime if his arm doesn’t fall off.
But much bigger news for Omar. Last night on ESPN360 in a Dominican League Game our favorite, and Omar’s all time favorite LIMA was on the mound. The place was filled with Met scouts!!
WOW!! LIMA!!!
I can’t wait to see that clown, with his clown hairdo, at Shea!!!
More LIMA!!
Too bad D. Willis is in Det or we could see another GS!!!
Sorry Scoop he has the Carlos Delgado bald look now!
PS: Sloppy guy must have missed it but they had Edgsrdo Alphonso on the other day also. We were too late because somebody else signed him I think. But Lima. Same lousy pitcher no matter the league! You guys should watch. The guys look licke NASCARs with ads all over their unis.
I’m glad Minaya signed Juan Padilla. He gets back to Shea Omar Padilla gets some freebies in the 117 buck or more section!!
You beat me to the bald line OMAR P. Never would have called it the Delgado look tho. Glad I’m not the only one wwatching winter ball.
Good luck with Padilla making the team.
I think it’s time for the holiday post, in which you wish us a safe and happy holiday season while simultaneously thanking us for our continued support. This might also be a good time to tell us we’re the greatest thing since sliced bread and central A/C. And then, as a fitting conclusion, you should light your typewriter on fire.
To all the Omar defenders and critcs (like me); To keith and dave and scott from somewhere in Westchester. I give in. Today, despite having maybe the worst quarterback in franchise history the NY Giants won their 10th game and clinched a playoff spot. So if the Giants can make the playoffs with Eli the adopted Manning, so maybe you guys are right and the Mets can make the playoffs with those two lousy players Omar picked up from DC.
And to everyone who spent the time arguing with my insane logic and critiques of Omar, have a merry Christmas, Kwanza or a belated Happy Hanukkah and a wonderful New Year. And I hope all you rich folks fill the Stadium in 2008 despite the rip off increases so the Wilpons continue to invest in nothing but the finest players in the world !!!!! I guess Omar’s Christmas present to us wasn’t a Santa na, but one Wise man. The Wilpons wouldn’t even let him give us three Wise men. Just one.
Go Eli!!! I’m sure we couldn’t have done it without you NOT. Eli Manning is the Steve Trachsel of the NFL….
Eli Manning is the Steve Trachsel of the NFL….
Ho, Ho, Ho… man, that’s pretty creative… :)
then… who is the Jae Seo of the NFL?
Sloppy – I agree the Gints suck.
So two of my 3 teams ( ets/Giants/Knicks ) suck. One makes the post season.
Eli may one day make a great quarterback. One thing he doesn’t have is a gun for an arm. Bradshaw took a few years to get it. Right now Eli is still lost unfortunately.
Happy Holidays everyone.
May the Mets wash away the old year and start 2008 on the other foot. Hopefully Omar is not as bad a GM as his critics’ say he is.
Dave
There is an article on Glavine on si.com. I don’t like that he signed with the Braves and I know many here are glad to be rid of him, but I still feel this team would be better with him around for one more year.
Dave
Happy Holidays to all.
The best part of posting here is that we all remain civil while we have our disagreement’s over the state of the Mets.
To Sloppy: Eli “The Adopted” Manning is totally priceless.
As far as the Wilpon’s go, they told Omar to wait
and shop at the after X-mas sale’s.
Scott P,
Unfortunately for Omar the shop store shelves are nearly empty.
What is left are things like Charlie Brown’s X-mas tree at the Rockefellar Center X-mas tree price!
Merry Xmas!
Santa says that Met fans have been BAD. So for Christmas Met fans get no ACE to anchor the rotation!!!!!!!
Sorry boys and girls in orange and blue. Maybe next year.
That is harsh.
By next year we are talking ‘08?
