I guess Roger Clemens does everything on a five-day rotation. Five days after his name was prominently mentioned in the Mitchell Report, Clemens denied today taking performance-enhancing drugs.
The accusations were made by former trainer Brian McNamee.
In a statement released through his agent, Randy Hendricks, Clemens said: “I want to state clearly and without qualification: I did not take steroids, human growth hormone or any other banned substances at any time in my baseball career or, in fact, my entire life.
“Those substances represent a dangerous and destructive shortcut that no athlete should ever take.’’
McNamee said Clemens took steroids in 1998 while with the Toronto Blue Jays, and human growth hormones (HGH) in 2000-2001, while with the Yankees.
Another McNamee client, Andy Pettitte, admitted using HGH.
