so many so-so players
does the stuff really work?
Where are Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa on this list?
The name that surprised me the most was LoDuca. Now we know why Omar didn't resign him.
So Mets and ex-Mets were:Lenny Dykstra, David Segui, Josias Manzanillo, Todd Hundley, Mark Carreon, Matt Franco, Mo Vaughn, Chris Donnels, Mike Stanton, Paul Lo Duca, Fernando Vina, Paul Byrd, Scott Schoeneweis—Bobby Estalella (minors), Benito Santiago (minors)Gary Bennett, Jr.(minors)all spent time in AAA with us. That is a lot of players!
Others who surprised me:
Jack Cust—should have known after his big year last year
Matt Franco—Is that why he was such a good PH?
Mo Vaughn—Surprising too…probably why he broke down
Eric Gagné—The Dodgers had quite a drug ring there
John Rocker-_Can you say roid rage?
Matt Williams? You're joking, right? Couldn't be! (snicker)
I am surprised that more players are not on the list. If I were Bud Selig I would wipe out all the records and championships from 1995 to 2006 because they are tainted.
Therefore, Hank Aaron would still be the HR King and Roger Maris would still hold the single season record for HRs.
You wanna talk about the Mets and ex-Mets??? All of those guys suck and never played major roles in anything aside of maybe Lo Duca.
Look at the Yankees listed. Here's what is there from the 2000 team vs the Mets
starting 2nd base- Knoblauch
starting OF- Justice
3/5 of the starting rotation- Clemens, Pettite, Neagle
2 main relievers- Stanton and Grimsley
The Mets had Todd Pratt and Matt Franco. Big time guys.
Nails – '86 World Champions
Dykstra didnt take roids till his last year with the Mets
They all knew that MLB wasn't doing anything to catch them. They were warned of when tests would occur – however, that ended today when Selig said it would.
I think I am surprised that there are not more names on the list -
It's time for a new course called Lo Duca Math.
In 2,435 minor-league ABs, you'll hit 31 dingers—or one for every 80 ABs.
Then you'll meet Todd Hundley, who will introduce you around. This will result in a 25-HR rookie campaign (a ratio of one dinger in every 19 AB).
Finally, you'll hit 50 homers over your next 3,100 ABs (one dinger every 60 AB).
Say it ain't so, Mark Carreon!
Yup, LoDuca. Now we know why the Mets and no one else in baseball wanted to sign him.
"Yup, LoDuca. Now we know why the Mets and no one else in baseball wanted to sign him."
Todd,
Not to disappoint you, but the Mets NEVER signed Lo Duca to a contract. They traded for him with 2 years left on the contract he signed with the Marlins and they just passed (big time) on signing him to a new contract.
And last time I checked, Jim Bowden and the Nationals were in baseball.
Diss the guy all you want, he's not particularly a favorite of mine, but maybe next time you could at least let the semblance of a fact or two make it into your criticism.
