John- Do any of the Mets beat writers or broadcasters speak spanish? If not fluently, at least enough to do an interview? Just curious...

As excited as I am for Mr. Johnson, I do have a question. When certain awards are given to various officials, we can see tangible reasons why. When a GM wins executive of the year, usually fans can point to trades or signings or results on the field/court/ice and say "Oh yeah, he totally deserved it," or point to others who should have won instead. In this case, what results can we see as to why Sandy Johnson is a superior scout? Is he a talent scout, in which case the Mets made trades that clearly show how good he is at his job? An advance scout that helped prepare the players for the opposition? From his VP title I would think he oversees the entire scouting operation, and given the Mets' prospects that we read about every day, I fail to see why he is in the position to be given this award.
