Outside of pitching, the Mets are looking at catcher, second base and to fill their bench. GM Omar Minaya will lay the ground work for those moves at the GM meetings in Florida.
They are close to bringing back Marlon Anderson, which is a good move for the bench.
Luis Castillo could be brought back, but the Mets will examine other second-base options, of which there isn’t many.
Yorvit Torrealba is a 29-year-old catcher, and he might be the Mets’ biggest move of the off-season unless they swing a trade for a pitcher. They will also look at Jorge Posada, but I believe he’s going back to the Yankees.
