I see both the Yankees and Angels staying alive today. The Angels were terrific this year at home, so I wouldn’t be surprised to this get back to Fenway.
Should the Yankees win today, it will be interesting to see what Cleveland does with its pitching.
Here’s something to look for regarding Clemens. He’s had some big postseason efforts, but some stinkers, too. He’s been known to get too amped and overthrow.
Don’t underestimate that possibility considering this could be his last start. Of course, he’s baseball’s Keith Richards and keeps going, and going, and going.

I don’t see the Angels winning. The Yankees possibly. If they do win, then Torre has a decision for Game 4: Wang or Mussina.
Pitchers who made their last start in the post season: Koufax in 1966. Any others?
First, Congrats to the Dbacks and Rockies. Its going to be a great NLCS this year. Oh, How it warm any true Mets fan heart to see Clemens get ripped today. A Glavine like meltdown would be sweeter than honey. Where are the Yankee trolls today????????
all this Rox-Dbacks NLCS does it make it all the more painful that the Mets arent in there. The Rox rotation is all on the DL, and half the D’backs hitters are on the DL. They arent worth of a WS, the Mets would have an easy time to the WS this year with either of them (except Webb) if they had just made it in. How painful.
I think the Indians will take thier chances with Sabathia and Carmona both ready for a game 5. It saves them both for the ALCS games 1 & 2 if they arent needed. (which they will almost surely need to compete with the Red Sox) or it will allow them to salvage the series on the last day back at home if the Yanks push it that far.
I’m looking for a 10-8 style game today, I think they’ll overcome Clemens poor effort. But get knocked off in game 4. The Angels look done, they’ll need Weaver to step up big time and carry them today. A poor start and that rag tag group of subs may pack it in.
Best hope is that Clemens pitches like a 40+ YO guy that hasn been hurt, and not pitched since mid September.
THis is like if the Mets were in this position, and rolled out El Duque after a month off.
Might itch OK, but who knows what you will get.
As much as it pains me to say it, I think the Stankee bats might come alive today. Hopefully it won’t be enough to overcome the pitching, and they lose with a football score!
I think the Indians should keep Sabatia on normal rest if need be, and play for game 5. They have to try one game with someone else, if the series goes 5, might as well be the game in NY!
hey jimmy rollins…
not the team to beat now are they?
SHUT UP JIMMY ROLLINS
The Phillies were the team to beat..and the Rockies did. Wonder if Charlie Manuel is still considered a good manager by M&MD after his Lohse and Romero decisions.
Congratulations to the Phillies for winning one more game (in 3 more chances) than the Mets.
P H A R E W E L L P H I L L I E S !!!
YOU ARE PHINISHED!
YOU, TOO PHELL HARD – 0 – PHOR – 3 IN THE NLDS
(National League Dissection Series)
METS in ‘08. Matt Holliday – MVP. (Not “Roll Over” Rollins)
By the way…. METS 88-74; Phillies 89-76. Mets are a half-game better as both teams tee it up at the first hole.
“He’s been known to get too amped and overthrow.”
Nah … ya think? Gee, wonder if that was the problem when he threw a splintered bat at Piazza? ;p
I predict Clemens will give up at least 4 runs in the first 4-5 innings and that he won’t last much beyond that. So the question is how will Westbrook do? If he pitches well, I predict a Tribe sweep. If not, then this game could go either way.
Congrats to the D-Backs and Rockies. I’m really happy for Kaz and I’ll be rooting for him to make it to the WS where I think he’ll once again demonstrate his flair for the dramatic. I think if the Mets had squeaked by into the NLDS, they would have gotten beat by the Rockies. So just as well.
Has anyone seen Ron Hall and all the other trolls lately, lol? It’s amazing what losing will do to a troll.
Ward, don’t you think you were a little hard on the Beaver last night?
Gotta love those ‘Leave it to Beaver’ marathons.
Hey, them Phils phizzled pretty quick, didn’t they? Is that what’s menat by a flash-in-the-pan post season team?

The Red Sox have the game in the bag and i can see the Yankees winning today and Torre should start Wang for game 4 on short rest. It was a mistake he made last year, he shouldn’t make it again. Wang is great at home and I’m sure he wants pettitte on the mound if there is a game 5.
Roger amped like I thought. Martinez swung at ball four.-JD
Geem what a shame. Old geezer Clemens ran up th epitch count and got hurt in the 3rd inning. I feel so sorry for the 25 million dollar man.
How a GM can keep his job making idiotic moves like that is a mystery.
mazing what an unlimited budget can allow you to do.
I assume that carpertbagger Clemens will finally retire after this year. I mean, he can’t possibly have the stones to come back and steal money again, can he?
HOW ABOUT THIS?
1.Sign Fukudome (SP?) for RF
2.Re-Sign Moises Alou
3.Then trade Carlos Gomez/Lastings Milledge to Oakland for Joe Blanton.
4.re-sign castillo or sign cuban Alexei Ramirez
5.Either Sign linebrink, or trade Humber+ a lesser prospect for Cordero.
Joe Blanton is better then a lot of people give him credit for 14-10 3.95 ERA and 230 IP.. I still don’t think the mets need to deplete the farm System for a Johan, in the NL without a DH Blanton could easely have a 3.4-3.5 ERA with a Mets offense that could result it 17-18 wins..
Every 5th day you would know you are getting 6-7 solid innings and your bullpen won’t be overworked.
Pedro Blanton Perez Maine El Duque/Humber?/Pelfrey
Reyes
Castillo/Alexei Ramirez
Wright
Beltran
Fuku
Alou
Delgado
Lo Duca/Castro
Yankees will beat Cleveland in 5, it’s a repeat of 2001 again. Wedge will make a Randolph mistake and start Byrd tommorow who will be lucky to make it through 2 innings. C.C. will get beat with all the pressure on the line in game 5 against Andy.
Justin…
I like that except Fukudome. He wouldnt hit that high, and I’d just as well have Milledge hitting 7th and playing RF.
Blanton would be excellent, those 230 IP (vs. Glavines 201) would make the bullpen better without even improving the personel. Then Linebrink would make it possible to get back to 2006 form for the Mets pen.
Of course the catcher has to be different as LoDuca’s attitude seemed to wear out its welcome late this season.
