I hope they’re putting extra padding on the CF walls.
Why is Gomez in the line-up. How many near misses do we have to have with this guy before Willie realizes that he is just too raw to be playing important games. How many baserunning blunders, failed sacrifice bunt attempts etc. No knock meant on Gomez, he will likley be a very good player in the next year or two, but Endy is a much wiser pick. I know Milledge is suspended but, nowhere does it say that you must play a right handed batter against a lefty pitcher.
Does Willie realize that Chavez hits lefties as well as he does righties the last few years. I know the sample size is small against lefties but every year he continues to do this. Plus he always makes the right play, is as good a defensive outfielder in baseball, can bunt as good as anyone and can make responsible baserunning decisions. Endy rifght now is just a better player than Gomez vs. lefties or righties.
Eric: Watch out for Mike C…he’s sure to rip you because you said the obvious about Gomez….
Oh..and Mike C..in my post yesterday I stand by what I wrote…I do believe that Gomez has the talent just not yet…he can’t hit to save his life..and I KNOW HE’S only 22 but even though we have had some young guys come up to the bigs..(REYES, WRIGHT, MILLEDGE)I’m still with the group who believes that most ball clubs bring up players WAY, WAY before they’re ready….Hope I set the record straight…Mike C.. :-)
