Milledge gets three games

September
21

Lastings Milledge will get a three-game suspension for his actions after being ejected from last night’s game. He would have only gotten two if he hadn’t rushed out a second time.

He plans to appeal.

Does the suspension (if upheld) have to be served in the 2007 regular season? Did Milledge’s outburst pretty much guarantee he will be traded in the off season?
    Mota must be released.

I don’t think he should have got more than Anderson, who threw his equipment on the field. Milledge didn’t do that, right?

Dan, it depends on when the appeal is resolved. So he could serve at the beginning of next season. Either way, it won’t be a playoff game that he has to sit out.

I think another good poll option, but it might be too late now, would be “No, but they will win the wild card.” But I can’t see that happening, anyway.

he will be suspended for regular season games this year.

dan, guarantee’s a trade? why? people love to over-react about milledge. what exactly has he done wrong as a met. slapping the fans five. he didn’t hit the ump. look at chipper jones ripping the umps. he’s a kid so he shouldn’t develop a rep with the umps, but come on. he’s not exactly delmon young throwing a bat at an ump.

if it’s about the rap stuff take a listen to the song wright comes to bat with…just as inappropriate as lastings’ stuff

Milledge is a goner after this year I think. This is what the Mets brass feared from the kid. He is another hothead like Carl Everett and Milton Bradley. I expect him to be traded for relief pitching and Gomez to take over right if he’s ready. You could always sign that Japanese outfielder who is compared to Abreu in his prime.

Mets: I should be careful repeating Beningo and Roberts speculation about Milledge. But clearly he has never been a Randolph player: cool, professional, businesslike. A player can not control what happens in a game but he should control his emotions. He might have moved from being an untouchable to being available in the right deal.

    Mota must be released.

available in the right deal…no problem with that.

this kid can hit. i really like gomez (defense, speed), but he is no where near lastings with the bat. the kid has hit .330 at a, aa, and aaa ball in different periods.

this happened once over the course of a season. lastings smiles and is full of excitement.

everett and bradley were never like that. they always acted like the world owe’s them something. big difference

lastings is a great kid. with his first contract he bought his parent a camper to follow his minor league team around

I don’t think it’s fair to compare Lastings with Everett and Bradley. They are hotheads who can’t control their tempers and had reps for getting into fights with teammates. AFAIK, Milledge has not gotten into a fight with a teammate since he’s been up with the Mets. I suggest Scott Olsen has more in common with Everett and Bradley than Lastings does.

I think Lastings could go in the right deal. But my best guess is that he’s the opening day rightfielder for the Mets in ‘08 barring injury.
