Moises Alou will take BP and test his left quad by stretching and jogging before the Mets decide if he will play tonight. He felt a twinge in his left quad while running the bases Tuesday night.
Not a good idea. The Mets have enough problems without pushing Alou and taking the chance of hurting him further. Give him the night and try tomorrow.

Willie said on WFAN that Alou will play tonight.
JD I hear ya, but we also need wins.
It may be moot if he can play in October if we never get there.
hey dave whats with all this IF business. we’ll get there even if it as the wildcard :-p
and i dont listen to the FAN.
Need alou offense looked flat without him last night, he stirred the drink prior to leaving
According to Metsblog, Willie said he is going to TRY to get Alou in the lineup. It’s not guaranteed.
And now according to Yahoo…Alou is in the lineup batting 5th. Conine at 1b instead of Green.
I don’t listen to FAN either. But the if is this team has imploded this past week yet again.
We used to control our destiny, now we don’t. We got swept twice by an inferior team that is chasing us and may take the division.
I guess you can be a glass half full, glass half empty guy but this past week did it for me.
As I said before we do not belong in the post season. IF we make it great, but we do not belong.
Dave
By the way here’s a shout out to Steve C: Green is hot. He’s a better 1bman by far than Conine. Conine is 1 for 6 lifetime against Chico. Green is 3 for 5. That is a bad move by Willie.
Ya know there is an old saying in baseball about pitching. It is not the offense with us although we have had our issues there this season with that also.
Either it is the starters or the pen but they have failed. You can always get hot like the Cards did last season but it doesn’t look good.
Yeah Green has stroked two the past few games. He is hot. Leave him in.
“We used to control our destiny, now we don’t”
actually, when you’re in 1st place you still control your own destiny. if the mets and phillies both win all of their games…the mets win the division
Dave: The Mets STILL control their own destiny.
nah. Omar has the controls,I think. which isnt a good thing. stick to getting players and let the manager manage.
:-(
Green has hit two the past two days and is 3-for-5 lifetime against Matt Chico. That’s why he’s sitting tonight.-JD
1 for 6 and 3 for 5 (now those are HUGE samples)
conine was 2 for 2 last night too
green vs lefties (season): .200 avg .270 obs 2hr 12rbi
conine vs lefties (season: .248 avg .307 obs 6hr 25rbi
My comment about controlling our destiny is this.
Up until yesterday we were about a game ahead of the competition which in my book is even. The week before all we had to do was split. that is play 500 and be very mediocre to coast in. We dropped 5 straight. Considering that the opposition is playing better than 500 and we cannot buy a game we are in a fight for the top spot that we should not be in.
So yes we do not control our destiny because someone else can easily take something from us they could not do just a week before.
Dave
Your logic is flawed. The opposition cannot control its destiny if it has more losses than you have. Recent past records are meaningless. Only the team with a magic number controls its destiny. The rules are the same as last week. We win we’re in. They win they need help.
