Please tell me the writers are going to further press Willie and Omar on the decision NOT to start Humber yesterday.

A real legitimate gripe can be made about the organization failed to bring up enough pitching for September. Right now, the bullpen is tired and ineffective, and trotting guys like Sosa out there on a daily basis isn’t helping. I’d have preferred that they brought up 2 or 3 relievers—Jon Adkins, anyone?—and let them pick up some of the bullpen slack.

Mike: What will be even more laughable is the excuse that Willie will make up when El Duque misses his next turn and Dave Williams is the guy that pitches instead of Philip Humber.
Hmm, I suggested on FU today that I would have rather had Dave Williams throwing junk balls out there last night than BL. Guess be careful what you wish for, LOL. But seriously, I like Williams, he’s not nearly the scrub BL is.
And Benny, I thought Adkins was injured…I could be wrong. Someone look that up, pretty please??? :)
Steve, another great point! What is the point of having HUmber up here if he’s not going to get a nod…especially against these 4th and 5th place teams? It’s mind boggling.

Didn’t the Mets reently waive Caraval (sp?) Could a 25 yo pitcher with live stuff be that bad they cut him, keeping stiffs like these (and Sels), and a few days later they cut Lawrenece anyhow?
DOn’t they have any other arms from the minors to call up? Someone out there must have something left in their arm!

I believe the story on Marcos Carvajal is that the Mets took him off the 40 man roster and tried to pass him through waviers and the Marlins claimed him.
btw his numbers for the B-Mets were horrible

Agree with Benny that more pitchers should have been brought up this September. What about Muniz and Mulvey? Both pitched well in brief AAA promotions this year. I wish they’d just try some of these guys sometimes. Parade them in and out during the year until someone impresses and sticks. And if none does? No problem. Just send them back down.

They took Carvajal off the 40 man when they reactivated Carlos Gomez from the 60 day DL.

JK: Muniz and Mulvey were pitching for NO I believe for the playoffs.
JK
steve: Yeah but the playoffs are over. So where are they? Lawrence and Smith were also pitching in the playoffs but now they’re here. Also, Muniz has been in the system for a few years, some of them good, and he had a good year in AA this year. So why not give him a shot?
