Number switch

September
14

Sandy Alomar switched numbers with Jeff Conine. Alomar now wears No. 28 and Conine will wear get No. 19, which he has worn his entire career.

Tell me, does it get bigger than that?

That brings a tear to my eye…i’m touched. Must mean that DiFelice will be the 2nd catcher on the post season roster. lol

JD – time for some investigative reporting: what did Conine pay Alomar in exchange for the number?

Now all things are as they are supposed to be and all is right with the universe. :)

How sweet – were flowers involved?

If only the negotiations between Dale Earnhardt Jr and Wicked Stepmother Teresa over the “8” had gone as smoothly. I wonder if Jeff Reardon is still pouting because he couldn’t wear “41” when he was a Met.

To Kettle: Conine said nothing was given. Not even flowers. He said Alomar was happy to do it, saying, ``there weren’t any hits for me with that number.’’-JD

That’s sweet. What did Conine say about that 9th inning strikeout? Ugh.

whats puzzling is why Alomar Jr. is even on the roster. The Marlins claimed Marcos Carvajal off waivers from the Mets. He was DFA so Alomar Jr. could be added to the roster recently. Omar loses another young pitcher for nothing…

Conine wore 18 in blatimore during his first stint there. So the “Conine will wear get No. 19, which he has worn his entire career.” is wrong.
