Mets first baseman Carlos Delgado tested his strained right hip flexor this afternoon with light jogging, playing catch and taking grounders.
“After that I will have a better idea (of swinging the bat),” Delgado said.
Delgado had been receiving treatment and therapy since he was injured while taking an awkward swing, Sept. 4, at Cincinnati.
The original prognosis was to be out from seven to ten days, and today is that tenth day.
“I don’t know,” Delgado said about how much time he might need to get ready for the playoffs. “A couple of games. Three or four maybe, but hopefully a little more.”
