Mets Notes: Hernandez not right

Do you remember what I wrote last night, that Hernandez’s problems was rust related? Well, he’s complaining about his foot again. I should have seen it coming. The Mets say he’ll make his next start, but that’s why they call them “probables’’ and not “definites.’’
-Ramon Castro’s back is barking. Hurt it taking a swing in Brooklyn. I’m definitely not thinking about him for the playoffs.
-Luis Castillo was scratched because of his sore knee.

John would you just sit him for the rest of the season and just have a couple side sessions and pitch him in his last two starts of the reg. season?
Put him on ice for a week and then have him relieve the last week of the season. Then put him in the bullpen for the postseason IF he can at least pitch an inning or two. If not, just leave him off the roster. When and if they get to the WS he can be put back on and pitch in then.
He’s signed through next year. They should just shut him down for the whole month of August next year and then let him come back the way Pedro did this year. That way there’s a better chance he won’t be injured for the postseason in 2008.
Shut him down for now and let him get a start before the playoffs start.
maybe this is for the best. give him some rest.. and maine and ollie are probably better suited for the rotation… and we can get a battle-tested master of the art of pitching come out of the bullpen… something he HAS done before..
The Duque situation is unfortunate because the Mets are going to use a 6 man rotation down the stretch. Without Duque they might have to go to… Humber? I guess they can mix and match Pedro, Duque, Maine, and Pelfrey on longer rest while Glavine and Perez stay on turn.
re: Castro. They Cyclones are on the NYPL finals, but they will be taking a 7 hour bus ride (each way) to Auburn for game 1 tonight. No way Castro’s bad back makes that trip.
The Zephers are in the PCL finals, but are heading to Sacramento for 1-3 games. They are down 0-2 in the best of 5. After Saturday Castro has no where to play unless the Zephers can pull off the comeback and go to the AAA-WS.
