Sitting in the dugout while the Mets are taking BP. Willie Randolph touched on several topics today:
-Carlos Delgado is progressing slowly and Randolph doesn’t expect to see him during this homestand and projects him being out longer than the 10 days.
-Pedro Martinez will be looking at a pitch count of 90-100 in his next start.
-Orlando Hernandez is still on for tomorrow. We tried to get him to talk about his pitching plans for the playoffs, but he gave us the “let’s just get there line.”
-Randolph said he would like to see Jose Reyes bunt more for hits.

Yikes… is Delgado done for the year?
When a team that is famous for understating injuries to the press says that a guy with a history of injury issues is gonna out for “more than ten days”... it causes a dude to worry.
Either way, lets go Mets!
Well as they like to say…”the other guys will just have to step it up.”
At least it’s not the NY Football Giants….injuries galore.
To Mike C.: That was a pretty frank thing for Randolph to say. He also said he hopes he has enough time to get his swing back.-JD
JD: On Friday Omar went on the game for an inning and said the same thing as Willie told you. You would have loved Keith teasing him for being a “homer” announcer. (He was there before the game was a blowout.) They finally agreed it was OK for Omar to be a homer but not Gary and Keith.
Its going to be a very long year for the Giants, JEFF…..
That D is absolutely horrible. And if the world’s biggest QB has to start it could be the worst in franchise history.
JD – Thanks for the update.
Pedro working his comeback, hope Delgado gets well soon™.
Did you really think Willie would tip his hand for the post season? Ya gotta try tho.
