Yesterday? Did the Mets play yesterday? I could say I was trying to forget yesterday as an explanation for today’s late post. Truth is, after 10 days on the road things catch up and today has been about catching up.
Paying bills. Doctor’s appointment. Errands. The list never ends. An item gets checked off and another appears. Right now I am working on a story for tomorrow’s Journal News on freebies.
With all the money these guys make there’s a never ending line of people who want to give them things, buy them meals and do them favors. “It is amazing,’’ Tom Glavine said.
About yesterday, all is forgotten except two things. The first is Carlos Delgado. Down for ten days and maybe longer. The next is John Maine. It’s not just one start and the Mets must be concerned.
There are problems on the back end of the rotation.

JD: Whats your thoughts on Delgado? Do you think he is gone until Game 1 of the NLDS?
Maine has his issues. But he is much cooler in a situation than Perez. He is also a professional, he got interviewed by SNY and shortly said. I just didnt have it today. he made no excuses. To me thats a ball player. As for the rest of the team well, it appeared that for some reason not everyone was playing as hard as they should. Castillo should be fined for not running down that wild pitch he’s done that before, I think Delgado also allowed a tag on a wild pitch. its a sin.
Gotay’s bat is good, but Easley seems a better fit. I think Green at first would have been a better choice.
Connine is a vet, but I just dont think be was there yesterday.
I watched the entire 9 innings and it was poor. But Milledge played well he went after that HR. and i thought he pulled an Endy, so did Gary Cohen until we all saw it bounce back onto the field.
In short Maine’s outing wasnt the best and the relief picthers didnt even enter the mound. sad really.
Milledge played well, Gotay tried,Wright is always there ..
and castillo should be benched for not playing his heart out.
Connine should just be a pinch hitter.
ok we put this one behind and move forward.
Lets Go Mets Go.
To Steve: I don’t think we’re going to see Delgado much before the playoffs. If it is ten days, he’s certainly not going to come back 100 percent right away.-JD
JD: Well hopefully when Carlos comes back he’ll do well off the bat. Otherwise Steve C will get down on him again. :-)
steve: if delgado played first better i could forgive the bat. I held a blind eye to ordonez until his glove gave out.
Who had a worse Wednesday. The Mets or the Phillies??
The Phillies by far.
