Pre-Game Notes: Duque update
-
- September
- 3
Orlando Hernandez said he’s feeling “much better,’’ but he will still miss a start. He won’t go Saturday as I speculated, but in the Atlanta series, Sept. 10-12. Mike Pelfrey will go Friday, and Tom Glavine on Saturday (getting an extra day of rest) and presumably Pedro Martinez on Sunday.
NOTEBOOK
-Willie Randolph said he might try to give Jose Reyes and/or David Wright a day off in this series.
-The Mets lead the majors with 176 stolen bases.
-Shawn Green in right today. So much, it seems, for Lastings Milledge getting the bulk of the playing time. He has to learn to hit the curve.

i liked they way they were doing RF..milledge endy milledge endy milledge green repeat. green shouldnt get 2 in a row
Another tough righty today, not the best guy for Lastings to face.
While Pelfrey makes me nervous, I’m glad to hear they essentially have a 6 man rotation for a week or so. Give everyone a little rest.
Ack!
If only Pedro made his next start Monday! I’d be there!
Posted 40 minutes ago and we haven’t had to read the venom from Mike C about Green and Willie yet. May his PC be broken so we can watch Pedro in peace!
Reyes can surely use a rest. I think he’s underperforming of late as result.
Maybe if Lastings would have gone to Winter ball like the team wanted him to, he would know how to hit a curve ball now.
Mel: Not true. Milledge didn’t balk at winter ball. The team wanted him to work on getting stronger, which is what he did. Saying Milledge refused to play winter ball is inaccurate.-JD
Everything I read said the opposite John. They wanted him tp play winter ball and he wanted to build up his strength. Whatever, he can’t hit a curve.
