Pelfrey, Humber officially recalled... Mulvey to New Orleans, Collazo added to 40 man roster... Pedro, Duaner, Gomez and Padilla on 60 man DL. I guess they'll move Valentin or Easley to 60 Day DL on Monday to make room for Pedro. Each 60 day guy gives Omar post season roster flexibility....

Oh yeah.

Delgado was clutch. Gave a nice little talk to Maine as he did last year.

That was a great game.

Someone in the booth said Marlon is the best pinch hitter in the game.

Maine - for those who say it is a growing up moment I disagree. He did that last year in the post season. This however is a pivotal game for him as he seems to have gotten out of that funk of his.

Sho - Wow. Out new closer. LOL

Jess re Gints - 500 team at best no RB no D.

Milledge - As many have said here. He can't hit the changeup right now. His D sucks. Regardless of who is nominally better at the plate Endy blows everyone out the door with his D. No one on this team can touch him in the OF. Part of what made us good last year was stellar D. Endy was a major part of that throughout the season and in the post season. Oh yeah. Milledge also has a few things to learn about running the bases. Don't get me wrong I hope he does well, but Endy is preferable to him for now.

Pedro - Is it really this easy to get a win? Just have Pedro back?

Gil: My favorite Footy team: Brisbane Lions! They lost to Geelong on Saturday. They're not doing so well this year...in 10th place after 22 weeks. They've lost three out of their last four matches with the one they didn't lost being a draw.
Wow, how the mighty have fallen.

Gil: From Inside Pitch, July 2007, as quoted from the Canadian Jewish News, "My mom's Jewish. I'm not. My birth certificate says I'm Jewish, but I don't practice and my kids won't be raised that way."

Newhan....lol for MANY reasons!

Would we have beaten the Cardinals last year if they had resigned Marlon Anderson? I didn't give his leaving at the time much thought but perhaps I should have. Minaya too.

Jeff: Wow. I thought Schoeneweis was Jewish. I'd read about him, Shawn Green and David Newhan making a point of visiting the Holocaust Museum - which I still need to see - in DC on a road trip. Newhan identifies himself as a "Messianic Jew," but I thought Schoeneweis is part of the faith.
No matter what his faith or culture, though, I have to admit he's pitching a lot better in the second half.

From a happy clubhouse:

MAINE: ``The biggest difference is tonight I made a pitch when I needed to.'' Maine said he threw fastballs up to get Chipper and Teixeira.

WRIGHT: ``Even though we didn't play as well as we are capable of against Philadelphia, we came out here expecting to win.''

DELGADO: (On what he told Maine when he came to the mound in the sixth): ``I told him to just take it easy, that he's been in control the whole game.''

Delgado also hit the 427th homer of his career to move into sole possession of 38th place, four behind Cal Ripken.

A last thought: No, it wouldn't have been the end of the world had the Mets lost, but with Pelfrey going tomorrow the Mets needed to change their karma.-JD

Jeff: Willie gets it?? Of course, why has Milledge's time decreased for a while. He hasn't figured it out and its too late to play now. I expect he'll still get some starts to keep him alert, but next year's his time if he's still with us. If Omar gets a bat for the OF, I would think Gomez beats out Milledge. He has more upside, more speed, better D, better arm, at least as much power, and he seemed to make adjustments, something Milledge hasn't shown us yet.
