Pedro Martinez’s bullpen session went so well this afternoon that GM Omar Minaya said he would start either Monday at Cincinnati or at Single-A Brooklyn.
Minaya said the combination of Martinez’s session and Orlando Hernandez’s sore right root (he was examined in NY and given a cortisone injection) made the major leagues an option.
“I would love it to be Cincinnati,” Martinez said. “It will depend on how I react tomorrow.”
With the way the Mets do things, they never would have put Cincinnati on the table if they didn’t think it would be that way.
The Mets also announced Mike Pelfrey will start tomorrow.
