I suppose the worst part about yesterday’s game was it being in the afternoon, giving you more time to stew.
Kind of like a dentist appointment late in the day rather than first thing in the morning.
Part of me wants to say it is no big deal, that if you were told in spring training the Mets would be two up on this date you’d take it.
Of course, we both know it doesn’t work that way, that what matters now is how they are playing. For that, fill in your own expletive here.
Last week the Mets had a seven-game lead and I got posts saying I was overreacting to suggest they could still get caught.
The Mets could get swept in Atlanta and still win the division, but would you really like their chances?
They aren’t playing well, but worse they aren’t responding well. I see anger and concern in the eyes of some, but overall I don’t see fire. I have covered pro sports for a long time and know how to spot a listless team. That’s what I see in the Mets.
