Willie Randolph just pulled Jose Reyes aside. This came after talking with hitting coach Howard Johnson.
Johnson told me Reyes hasn’t been as patient at the plate as he was earlier. “We don’t mind if he swings at the first pitch,” Johnson said. “But it has to be good.”
If it’s more than that I will let you know.

I truly believe that Reyes is tired. He needs a day off. He doesn’t help his team if he’s impatient at the plate, not getting hits, getting picked off the base when he does get on so I wish our stubborn manager would not wait until after the Braves’ series to rest him but do it now, today.
sadly it seems we have to sit through another Mike Pelfrey start this Saturday instead of watching Philip Humber pitch.
So Chipper,Tex,Diaz,Andruw,Kelly,Escobar,McCann,Francore
Against a 96 MPH fastball, how many runs will Pelfrey give up?
my guess 3 IP 7 ER
Hi everyone –
What we all have to remember is that Willie Randolph has spent his adult life in professional baseball and he knows all the ins and outs, but mostly he knows the rules and he knows professional baseball players of all kinds. And he knows how he wants his team to play.
He takes the time to speak to all his players almost every day, and he listens to them and they listen to him because he has a fine baseball record. He’s seen it all before, many times – the good and the bad, and he’s chosen his own path for his team.
So, let’s calm down, enjoy the game and all the little things that make up this wonderful world of baseball.
