The only change is in right field, with Lastings Milledge starting and Endy Chavez back to the bench.
SS Jose Reyes
2B Luis Castillo
3B David Wright
CF Carlos Beltran
LF Moises Alou
1B Carlos Delgado
Milledge against a LEFTY who throws junk….not a good combination.
Lastings has shown lately that unless it’s a fastball, he’s not going to do very well.
RANDOLPH…why? WHY? WHY? Oh..I know…the gut. You should speak to Chertoff.
1.) Is this a better team with Lo Duca or DiFelice behind the plate?
2.) Who will the Mets include/jettison in terms of the post-season roster?
Inquiring minds want to know.
JD-any word yet on where Pedro is going to pitch next??
I’m not a big LoDuca fan, but he’s still the best all around catcher they’ve got.
I agree, but DiFelice has played well.
It’s the best lineup the Mets can feature IMO, though I really think that a Lastings/Endy platoon is what it will be. Regarding Milledge, I think he has most trouble with guys who are fastballers who can throw the offspeed stuff, thereby keeping him off balance. Moyer isn’t that type of guy. Defensively its a no brainer, DeFelice is much better than Paul. But Paul is a much better offensive player.
We won 7 out of 10 games with DiFelice catching…how are we doing with sLowDuca batting 7th again?
After 2 miserable nites in Citizens Bank Doghouse, I come to the site and see the only ones who have impoded worse than the Mets pen is most of the posters. Off to the home of the Braves now… Stay calm kiddies.
By the way, this park isn’t that nice. Lots of obstructed seats, and not very good food. They didn’t come close to Baltimore, Pittsburgh or Colorado. Hope Citi Field ain’t like this place.
To Benny: We are better off without Paulie, the other guys show him no respect on the basepath, and he has no bat. At least DeFelice and Alomar can play D.
Sloppy: I agree with you. I think the Mets have a baggage issue at this point, with Smith, Milledge and DiFelice more deserving of playing time than Mota, Green and Lo Duca. Don’t know if Willie can change these horses in midstream, though.
I’m not saying DeFelice is good Benny, I’m just saying if Paulie can’t hit, his throwing is so bad that he shouldn’t play. Last year he he got on base so it made up for the D, but this year, well… I don’t think Smith is healthy. Going through the box scores on minorleaguebaseball he isn’t being used. The pen gets a D or an F for their work this season. Mota’s been the worst for sure, but there’s been real problems with all of them. We miss Sanchez and Bradford a lot Well, at leat the Braves fans aren’t nearly as obnoxious as the Philly fans so even if they kick our butts it won’t be too bad in the stands.
Well maybe I’m in the minority with those who contribute to this blog regarding LoDuca.
I like him and think he calls a great game for the pitching staff.
He’s lost some of his power but he’s still good at the plate as a single/doubles hitter. He’s hard to strike out and I for one hope he’s brought back next year.
He also is OUT with his passion and I like those types of players.
League BA: .265
Lo Duca: .267
League OBP: .333
Lo Duca: .309
League SLG: .422
Lo Duca: .352
He’s not even a league-average player this year.
Benny, he is still a much better offensive player than DiFelice.
I like Paulie too but I wish Paulie would strike out a lot. Then he wouldn’t hit into so many DPs. That was Castro’s strength. He struck out a lot so he’d only make one out. Plus when he made a mistake and hit the ball it would go far, sometimes over the wall.
Seriously, as the running game returns to baseball as the steroid era goes away, catchers like LaDuca will become more and more damaging to a team. We need to find a Benito Santiago type who can throw strikes to 2nd from his knees.
As for next year, by by Paulie…..
PS: If we had a Molina on the team, that little twirpy Philly wouldn’t have been so anxious to steal in the 8th and we maybe win 2-1. That’s a lot more important than a single by a guy who needs 3 more to score.
Glad to see decent talk boys. There’s nothing wrong with Paul LoDuca that a winter of rest won’t cure. Bring him back.
Did you go to Berner, Jess in…?
Wow, you must have been there a long time ago. Berner isn’t a HS anymore?
Can we get back to baseball? I see the Yuchies dumped Mussina from the rotation and are starting a kid. Anybody gonna say we should get the moose? I’m sure the Yuchs would give him away…........
