Plus, he strikes out a staggering 40 percent of the time. I understand that Willie bashing is the favorite sport of Met fans, but it’s hard to question the lineup tonight:

You put in the players you have, you can't hide everyone, and those little intricacies will not be the reason a season is won or lost, or the postseason is made. What will matter is how the players you have perform, and part of that is gearing them up, focusing them, and giving them a game plan. The guys play for Willie and thats whats important. Not everyone on the team can get the job done everytime willie calls on them. You also have to think maybe, just maybe, Willie knows his players a little better then we (or John Delcos) does. He rests Delgado after he gets a big hit so he can really relax. He sits Alou on Saturday even tho we're facing a lefty to have him fresher for next week. Quite a bit of difference between Hernandez and Darling's color commentary and Morgans. Boy do I long for the days when NBC (The network that carried baseball)had Garagiola and Kubek-that was a winning combination. But in the several weeks that Luis Castillo has been playing second base and batting second, it's easy to see how much he's contributed especially when he doesn't play and Randolph really doesn't have anyone who can bat second and DO what Castillo does.
