All i can complain about is the lame coverage by ESPN. they suck. I am so glad its only 1 game every so often and its mostly on SNY.
ESPN knows nothing about the game nor the players.

Hope you all enjoyed yourselves making fun of other people. Hopefully, this week, your bosses will publicize every error you make, in public. You are a disgrace to Mets nation. Hope to see you in Philly tonite. But if not, bitch about Wheeler, Sarge, or Kalas if you have MLB.TV or Extra Innings, or whomever it makes you happy to pick on….. but I know you all are all above being criticized… and have never broken a rule in any of your collective lives… Oh how I’m glad to be imperfect…..

Steve: I don’t follow the minors except to look at NO and the stats of the team. What I read on some other blogs is the only information I get regarding our farm system.
As far as Collazo-never seen him pitch but couldn’t hurt to try him. Not sure if it’s him or another pitcher in AAA who previously tested positive for steroids.
I’m pretty consistent when it comes to cheaters—I don’t want them. Hence, why I think Mota is not a good fit for the Mets.

Jeff: What do you think about Collazo? I mean 1.15 WHIP, 2.60 ERA in a hitters league. I think that is pretty impressive. As far as Pelfrey goes, I guess he couldn’t do any worse than Aaron Sele but I don’t see him as having an impact. Also, i’m not sure how up you are on the minors, but do you know anything about Carlos Muniz in Bingo? 1.02 WHIP, .197 BAA. I believe he is their closer.

Steve: I believe that Pelfrey would probably make a good middle innings reliever. I’m not convinced he’s starting material but would be more effective pitching to a few batters over one or two innings.
Humber is a good possibility to get some post September 1 action, especially if the Mets maintain and/or increase their lead against the NL East.

Jeff, if those guys were supposed to be the “relief” then I think the Mets would have been in trouble. I’d still like to see Collazo get a chance when the rosters expand and hopefully Humber can get rewarded for his 1 hitter.

It’s been reported the Joe Smith has tendinitis in his elbow and Burgos felt something wrong in his elbow and was removed from the game. Pelfrey has missed his start because of fatigue. Not a good sign for those of us who were hoping New Orleans would supply the big club with some pitching ‘relief.’

Jeff… I gotta deeply disagree.

Green wasn’t gonna have gotten two hits, a walk and a stolen base in the two-hole and… Green wouldn’t have even been able TO get to the ball TO throw it to the cut-off man.

Tremendous skills tempered down by inexperience with Milledge? Sure.

But those skills are so great that they outweigh Green’s steady mediocrity across the board.

I’d be very happy if Green never plays in the Met outfield again, riding out the rest of the season as a back-up firstbaseman and a left-handed bat off the bench and then…

Going somewhere else next year.

Dude can’t field at all, Milledge has amazing fielding skills that are merely occasionally betrayed by his youth.

I was at last night’s game so I need to know…did ESPN show around 10 minutes before the game a montage about the Dodgers and the Mets? On the Diamond Vision scoreboard they showed a montage that ended with Beltran striking out in Game 7 last year! I couldn’t believe it.

Milledge showed his youth and inexperience in last night’s game. He missed the cutoff man on the ball that he played (very well too) off the wall and that might have enabled the Mets to get the Dodger’s runner at home.
Second, have you folks noticed that he tends to take a jump/hop before he throws the ball back in? I think whoever coaches the outfielders should try to correct this before it ends up costing the Mets. That jump/hop makes him take longer to throw the ball.
I think Green should play at least 4 to 5 games a week. I am a little nervous with Milledge playing should be make the playoffs. Green’s experience does mean something come playoff time.

JD: The Conti story with Pedro was regarding Sosa’s pitching not Mota. At least that’s what SNY’s Cohen said. I would believe Gary Cohen was accurate as compared to Miller and Morgan: Two lazy announcers.

Maine doesn’t seem to have the strength to push fatigue and get the job done. That’s not a big deal for a young pitcher in his first full season in MLB because it’s an issue with most of them. He needs someone “with standing” to give him the nugget of advice that he can use to get himself back where he belongs. Skipping a turn in the rotation might do him an awful lot of good, too.

John, call me crazy but John’s pitches looked better tonight. He should have made better pitches that cost him, but I was encouraged. I bet if you had video of this start and his last couple, there would be a noticable improvement.

Sometimes its not just results. I mean David wells got the win and limited the damage but did he look good? Not really.

Did Miller just say the Mets had sold 6 million tickets for the season? I didn’t know Shea could hold that many people! The new stadium doesn’t look like it will be able to hold 4 million unfortunately.

Definitely looking like Maine is out of the postseason rotation; I don’t care if Perez’s stuff is good for the bullpen. Maybe Pedro actually did turn Mota’s season around. That would be wondaful.

If Pedro can fix Mota’s delivery… MOTA’S DELIVERY… they should fly him up to touch Schoeneweis’s leg.

He’ll instantly heal the severed ligaments with his touch, if he can fix Mota’s delivery.

Hell, if he can fix Mota’s delivery, they don’t need to fly him up… dude’ll just walk on water the entire Atlantic Ocean back.

The good news is Wagner Sosa Heilman and Feliciano all got the night off. It’s a silver lining, anyway.

I’m taking a couple of things out of tonight. The first is Mota’s strong two innings. Bullpen coach Guy Conti is close with Pedro Martinez (he taught him the change-up) and they talk all the time. Supposedly, Pedro told Conti about the stride.

The second thing about tonight is John Maine. Four of LA’s runs scored after two outs. OK, an inning was extended by an error, but winning pitchers finish off the inning and Maine couldn’t do it. That’s been a common thread when Maine doesn’t pitch well.-JD

John, Where did that story come from about Pedro finding a flaw with MOta, they said on TV tonight Pedro told Petersen this on Thursday, but I haven’t seen it in any of the papers, and I’ve been at shea the last few nights, so I don’t know if it was mentioned on SNY.

The game turned when Wells struck out Alou on 3 pitches when he had to and then Maine came back and couldn’t get L Gonzales on the 3-2 pitch with 2 out. Maine needs to be able to do that if he wants to be a consistant Major League Pitcher.
