Some interesting notes about tonight’s line-up.

First, Luis Castillo is out. He tweaked his right knee running the bases last night. Willie Randolph said maybe tomorrow.

Second, “Carlos Delgado”:http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=5178
was dropped to sixth in the order behind Moises Alou. A lot of you have been saying that the last few days.

Here’s the METS line-up:

SS Jose Reyes
2B Ruben Gotay
3B David Wright
CF Carlos Beltran
LF Moises Alou
1B Carlos Delgado
RF Lastings Milledge
C Mike DiFelice
LHP Oliver Perez

    Paul starting in brooklyn?

That sucks about Castillo. “Maybe tomorrow,” from Willie and the Mets usually means a stint on the 15 day DL. Alou has a .476 career BA against Penny, so as good a time as any to switch him with Delgado. And I know he had a big hit a few nights ago, but Milledge has to start getting his act together. He’s mainly looked lost the past few games.

I hope you Steve never becme a boss of people. You constantly blast away. I’ve read your crap over and over, and I feel sorry for you…..

Glad Randolph came to his senses regarding Delgado…should be his permanent spot for the rest of the year and playoffs—even if he does start to hit the ball again.
Hope Castillo is better for the rest of the series and then the two with Phils and Braves.

What do you disagree with HW?

    1. Does it not suck that Castillo is injured?

    2. Do the Mets have many people that they say are day to day that end up on the 15 day DL?

    3. Has Milledge not looked pretty bad the past few games?

    Plus from the other posts?

Does Heilman not have to get it together?

    Was last nights loss awful?

Does a championship pitching staff give up over 40 runs in 6 games against two week hitting teams?

Just curious where the disagreement comes in.

It’s not crap. It’s the truth. If you want to look at the Mets with rose colored glasses, be my guest. But i’ll be realistic thank you very much.

Steve, You are going to have to live with Milledge having nights like last night. Reyes went through the same thing his first full year, if you remember. He saw nothing but curve balls until he learned to hit them. Even now the ocasional curve ball will tie Reyes up. All young players go through this and take time to adjust to big league pitching. What Milledge is going through is part of the growing process and he will be a better hitter for it in the long run.

Castillo being out is definitely a concern – he’s been “clutch” ever since he was traded to NY – but I like this lineup. Gotay needs some AB’s anyway. Last time Delgado was dropped to 6th, he responded as if it was a personal insult, by starting to actually hit the ball. Hopefully, he’ll do it again.

If any of you post on metsrefugees.com, steve may as well be sharku

JD: Did the Braves DFA Wickman?? I heard this on radio and it seems hard to beleive.

  12. Mike C.

Put LoDuca in the eight hole instead of DeFelice and… it’s pretty much the strongest and best configured line-up the Mets have to put up against a right-handed pitcher.

    I like it a lot.

  13. Sloppy

Thanks for proving my point steve….....
    try a chill-out pill.

  14. Steve C.

Wow Delgado is almost batting in the right slot. one more to go then he’ll be in the 7 hole ;-]

But at least we all got what we wanted. if the rally starts at the top of the order at least it wont get busted.
    Lets Go Mets Go.

  15. Jay

Steve C, Delgado will never go in the 7th hole especially if Milledge struggles.

  16. Steve C.

yeah i know. and 8th is no good because you need a decent bat to get the pitcher up and really piss off the opposition. ;-]

  17. steve

    What point was that Sloppy?

  18. steve

Sloppy it is true that the Braves DFA’d Wickman. It’s on the AJC website

  19. Mike C.

So, the Braves are giving up on a reliever with an ERA under 4 and the Mets AREN’T on a reliever with an ERA over 6? C’mon now. This move just puts a fine point on how ridiculous it is to stick with Mota.

  20. Steve C.

No More ridiculous then sticking with Benitez, no too long ago. ;-]
Managers have their favorite pitchers.. or maybe Mota is Omar’s Boy.

  21. John Delcos

    Mike C. You nailed it.-JD

  22. Sloppy

I can’t say what point was proved steve, i promised letsgo i wouldn’t be bad on his router…..
