JD..you said earlier that there is no way the Mets will DFA Mota. WHY?????? :-( Is Omar too stubborn to say he made a mistake? Or do they really think he can get this turned around. If so, he better do it quickly because this bullpen is going to need him.
JR
Assuming they bring Chavez back prior to Sept. 1, how do they create room for him on the roster. Doesn’t seem like Omar would get rid of his current bench (Conine, Anderson, Gotay, Milledge, and a backup catcher). Would Omar ever think of getting rid of Green, or will he just wait for Sept 1 to activate Endy so he doesn’t have to make a choice.

Is it necessary to bring Endy Chavez back before September 1st for him to be on the postseason roster (knock on wood)? I thought players on the disabled list before Sept 1 weren’t bound by the 25 player limit.
JR
I’d assume Anderson Hernandez is headed to NO today so Conine can be added. While Endy doesn’t need to be activated to the 25 to qualify for the postseason, they could use his late inning defense, seeing that Green can barely play rf and alou has no arm in left. I don’t want to see Marlon in the of anymore, if possible.

ND is technically on a rehab assignment on not off the DL yet.

Assuming that everyone’s healthy heading into the playoffs, they really will have a tough choice on the final spots. Do you leave off Gotay and his .350 average? Cuz you know that they’re gonna carry Marlon (and you can’t blame them there, I guess.) Endy is a lock for obvious reasons, as is Conine, you would assume, plus whatever backup catcher is ambulatory.
Green versus Milledge for one spot? Perhaps. And you just know that Willie would push for Green, and it would be interesting to see if Omar pushed back.
Of course, you could always go with ten pitchers, given an expected 4 man rotation.

AJ with a 4-man rotation, 7 BP arms and 8 position players that leaves 6 bench spots and assume Milledge in RF starting for now.
Green
Anderson
Conine
ND
Castro
Gotay
I think that covers us. who am i missing?
Sam G. - Portland OR.
Thankfully we’ll only have the Green vs Milledge debate for this year.
And why would they call it early and make it easy for the fans who don’t have to battle rush hour traffic to get to the stadium.
It’s going to be nice on Thursday, Let’s Play Two!
To Metsgrrl: It’s not raining here, either. Tarp still down, but they are saying an on-time start.-JD
Sloppy....
First off about the rain delay, since its the last(even tho its the first) trip to town by the visitors the umps call the game. A rain out is bad because we’d need a 6th starter because the Jacket won’t pitch anyone on short rest, which means calling up someone, sending down someone blah blah blah which you don’t want to do because the team is looking rather stable.
And the Green/Milledge debate is fun. If Green left it would only start a new debate.

Rain has stopped downtown, radar via noaa.org is clear. Will probably rain on and off during the game, but pavement is drying here.
anyone who drives to shea now is a masochist. speaking as someone who only ever parked under northern blvd. drive to a 7 stop and park.
