It was a good sign to see Willie Randolph get angry at “Oliver Perez.”:http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=6945 Maybe he didn’t vent at Guillermo Mota because he thinks he’s beyond help. I am tempted to ask Randolph if he closes his eyes when Mota pitches.
Perez said his velocity is down, but insists he’s not hurt. Maybe they need to give him an extra day before his next start.
Very disappointed to see Damion Easley go down. He is one of the really good guys. I doubt we will see him again this year. Anderson Hernandez is the choice.

I’m tempted to ask Willie if he blacks out when deciding to put Mota in, then comes to, having no memory of what happened. There’s no other explanation for his continued use of the horrendous Mota. How can Willie continue to use him when ahead by less than a dozen runs?
And is it me, or does Mota look shocked when he gives up a run, as if it doesn’t happen EVERY SINGLE TIME HE PITCHES!?
No explanation?????
It’s the vicodin!
Here’s why Willie uses Mota … He has a choice: blow out relievers arms by overuse the way Torre does, or try to protect their health and careers by spreading the workload around. There’s a solution to the Mota problem and it’s in Omar’s hands.
What did Willie say about Ollie?
Kudos to the guys in the WFAN booth. They did a tremendous job painting a word picture of this game and giving us a clue of Perez’ demeanor.
At one point, not sure if it was McCarthy or Rose gave us the hilarious “Bull Durham”-like image of Perez motioning for DeFelice to appeal to the 1st base umpire on a checked swing, only to have DeFelice motion back to Perez, “No, forget about it, he didn’t swing, go ahead and pitch”.
You only have to listen to a radio Yankee game once with its alternating intervals of dead air and screechy homerism to appreciate the greatness of Rose and McCarthy. Murph would be proud.
