piazza physicall cannot throw a baseball to 2nd base, therefore excluding him from being a major league catcher. If the he could, he’d be catching for the A’s, which he isn’t.
NYM
i know just dreaming. at least difelice has hit alright thus far
Mike C.
Piazza would probably be hitting better than… all the catching options the Mets have, including LoDuca and Castro.
Problem is, he’s no longer able to field the position so it doesn’t mean a thing. It’s the kind of point they invented the word “moot” for.
Hopefully, the Deefer can keep hittin’ a little bit until Castro and Paulie heal up.
At least Alomar has a bat, Difelice is an offensive liability aside form a few lucky hits…
Mike C.
As great a Met as Piazza was, that ship has sailed.
The Mets don’t need another pinch-hitter who can no longer field a position, they’ve already got Shawn Green and Marlon Anderson and… until he heals up… Carlos Delgado.
Not to mention that the Athletics would figure out some way to make you deeply overpay for him.
Great game last nite…lots of Met fans all over the dump. Hope you could hear us cheering the boys on. Shows you that momentum in baseball starts and ends at the pitcher’s mound. There was no sign of Thursday’s game having any impact on the boys.
Good to see Mike C back with a knock on a Met or 2 in every post. Keep up the negative posting about “your” team. You make the board humm. Hope you do it on urpose to keep everyone thinking.
Saw a couple of you guys don’t like me…. I’ll buy a tissue box. But I don’t hate JD only the press in general. JD’s commnets make this blog the place to be. I find fault with what he writes and get every one stirred up about it. Makes the board more interesting doesn’t it??
We don’t miss LoDuca. If you haven’t noticed there haven’t been any or at least hardly any steal attempts with DeFelice behind the plate, and he’s been as or more productive than LoDuca was the last couple months. Castro…poor guy…that’s 2 August’s in a row he’s gone down.
How bout that DP last nite by Jose and Luis…. That’s what we couldn’t get before the trade….Super D at 2nd and SS. As the commercial says “priceless”!!!!
The few Nat fans here are really nice and there are all kind of vendors outside selling Met stuff. I bet they won’t let them near their new park next year.
Where is the new park JD… I know it ain’t by this one unless its invisible.
Mike C.
Thanks for the notice, Sloppy… it’s my personal opinion that one of the most important parts of being a fan is critiquing what’s wrong.
That’s the difference between being a fan and being a cheerleader and… I don’t have the bosom for being a cheerleader, I assure you.

I think after the seasons end the Mets should not re-sign Paul Lo Duca, and Trade for Ronnie Paulino during the trading deadline there was a lot of talk about the Mets getting Paulino as quoted from Daily News
“and according to a National League official, the Mets are laying the groundwork for a potential winter trade for Pittsburgh’s Ronny Paulino.”
The Mets should be looking for a long term catcher, there is no need for another 36+ year old catcher like Pudge, or Jorge..
Paulino is having an off-year this year but last year he batted over .300 in 400+ at bats..
idk what it would cost it might cost a Gomez but the Mets would be getting a long term catcher in Paulino
JK
Mike C: You do know there are tons of male cheerleaders, don’t you?
Darren: What’s sad is that Jesus Flores has a better caught stealing percentage and better OPS than Ronny Paulino right now. And he’s younger than Paulino too. The Mets would probably have to give up too much of value to get Paulino, while just recently we had someone seemingly as good sitting down on the farm.

meanwhile Jason Phillips and Todd Pratt are unemployed…
Darren…well you might get your wish because it doesn’t appear that the Mets are going to re-sign LoDuca after this season.
Castro is also a free agent and I think (my opinion only) that he’s going to want to test the market and become a full time catcher with another team. Minaya doesn’t seem interested in making him our new full-time catcher next year…and I don’t blame him. Still not convinced that when playing everyday he can give you the same output that he does when he plays a few times a week.
The Mets will have a few holes to plug after this season. The two outfield corner spots/catcher/A starting pitcher to replace Glavine/...should make for an interesting off season. My heart is set on Johan Santana.
Darren
Santana isnt a FA after this year..
and if you want to trade for him

So, we should be seeing Crash Davis soon?
Isn’t that Crash Davis wearing #9?
