In 1962, Choo Choo Coleman hits a pinch home run against the Phillies. He is later hit for by Jim Hickman, who also hits a pinch home run. It didn’t matter as the Mets lost the second game of the doubleheader. They also lost the first game.

    Stengel using two pitchers as pinch runners in the game: Al Jackson and Bob Miller. 7,000 people crammed into the Polo Grounds for a double-header. The box score a few days ago had 5,000. Mets attendance in 1962 was actually 300,000 better than the Giants in 1957.
