We’ve already had some spirited conversation today, which is great. Debate is what makes following sports so fun. This is your forum for whatever is on your mind.
Questions, comments, high heat … this is the place. Take care and enjoy the game.
If this place had normal outfield dimensions that’s a home run. Actually, that’s a HR in most places.-JD
Now I’m getting nervous
Please? End this?
Let’s face it—As of August 15, Billy Wagner is the 2007 Mets MVP. Phew!
OK it’s in the books!!!
Put it in the books, with a lot of furious scribbling.
From the clubhouse:
-Quote: ``We scored five in the first, five in the ninth and tried to give it away in between.’’-Willie Randolph
-By the Numbers: 34: The Mets say the Pirates fouled off 34 John Maine pitches, which explains why his pitch count was so high. Both Randolph and The Jacket said they were pleased with Maine tonight and the foul balls meant his pitches were moving. All that movement should have made for some more strikeouts, don’t you think?
Injury: Carlos Delgado has a hyperextended left knee. He hopes to play tomorrow, but isn’t sure.
They won, which was the important thing, but the degree of difficulty was way too high against a team like the Pirates.
I have to finish for the paper now, but keep it up and I’ll check back with you later.-JD
Another frakking injury?
What the hell do the Lords of Kobol have against us?
I hope this hyperextended knee doesn’t mean Delgado is going to start sucking again. I was really starting to feel good about him too. WE NEED TO FINISH THE SWEEP OFF TOMORROW….
Carlos Beltran’s play since returning from the DL should hopefully (but I doubt it) sooth those who don’t like him. He is a valuable part of the team and contributes much in the field and at the plate even while not 100 percent.
Way to go Carlos!
How to solve the ‘homering’ announcers problem if you have MLB.TV:
1. Go to picture of game
2. Hit CTRL + N (this will make identical screens)
3. Go back to MLB selection window and select the radio feed of your choice—that’d be WFAN
4. Lower the volume of the audio feed and turn up the radio feed and listen to WFAN in peace while watching the game.
I used to do that years ago when Tim McCarver would do the TV announcing for the Mets. What a pain in the ass HE is.
Some of these road announcers, homers or not, make my ears bleed…and of course ya don’‘t have to worry about any of the above if it’s an SNY telecast.
PS: Wags nowe has 997 relief K’s good for 2nd on the all time list just 172 behind the leader Jesse Orosco.
That was a close one!
At least if Delgado is out, that should guarantee that Milledge is starting. Unless of course Anderson needs to play, but maybe Willie will take Alou out for that. Only Green can play first right? D’oh!
For those of you fortunate enough to be spared the inanity of the homer announcers:
Time will tell if FSN’s Pittsburgh announcers (Dumb & Dumber) have improved since last year but so far Dumb hasn’t been mocking any of the Mets fans attending the games at PNC. Maybe someone told him that his feed was going out over MLB.TV? As last night’s game was winding down, Dumber actually sounded like he wouldn’t need 3 years of study to move up to buffoon when he started criticizing the way umpires “warn” pitchers and benches about throwing at batters; it didn’t last long but this was an incredible flash of human intelligence for this guy.
Jeff, The Beltran haters will hate him and yell about him the first chance they get. That’s just the way it is. He can’t play good enough for them.
LetsGoMetsGo…well I’m my humble opinion they’re ignorant (notice I used the word that means lack of knowledge, etc) fans.
Jeff and LGMG
I agree. Beltran is a fine center fielder snd this hostility, and for most of the team is incredible to me.
”...Incredible flash of human intelligence…”
Congratulations adl, you are hereby awarded the award for one-liner of the day (good one)
