1. Keith without a doubt. Never seemed to lose the intensity, fouled off lots of pitched to wear out the pitcher, awesome D at first. It was Keith who made me realize that D can make a difference at first base.
2. Orosco/McDowell. I consider them one because they were both closers. They could pitch one to five innings and both were great.
3. Doc. He electrified the crowd like Pedro did when he came to NY.
4. Straw. The power hitter, the guy controversy swirled around, the guy you scheduled your break times at Shea around so you wouldn’t miss his at bat.
5. Dykstra/Backman.. They set the table. Two straight pests can make a big difference day after day if the guys behind them show discipline. Hopefully, Reyes, Castillo will come to do the same.
5.1 Kevin Mitchell.. The guy was a kid who was willing to play anywhere, and could hit the ball all the time. He was the best sub I ever saw.
1. Keith Hernandez – The best all around first baseman ever
2. Gary Carter – An exceptional catcher with a great attitude
3. Jesse Orosco – I want to choose the whole pitching staff, but if I have to choose just one it’s Jesse
4. Darryl Strawberry – Simply electric on the field and at bat.
5. Mookie Wilson – The heart and soul of the team.
