Post-Game: Maine shoulders defeat

Yes Maine unraveled like a ball of yarn in a room full of cats, but for him the game boiled down to not coming up with Alfonso Soriano’s hard hit ball back to the mound in the third.

Soriano is fast, so there’s no guarantee, but Maine wish he could have found out.

Said Maine: “I could’ve gotten myself out of the inning with a double play. I should have done a better job of fielding my position.’’

If he had, then the bang-bang play at first never would have happened.
