Don’t count on Zambrano for Shea

6559.jpg “Carlos Zambrano”:http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=6559 is the free-agent pitching prize in the market this winter. He wants to stay here, but if the Cubs don’t move quickly Zambrano said he would consider the Mets.

“They have a very good team,’’ he said. “They are in the business to win.’’

Zambrano also said he’d think about the Braves and Yankees, but favored the Mets over the Yankees because he doesn’t like the American League.

However, he made it clear he wants to stay in Chicago.

“I want to stay here. My hand is ready to sign the contract,’’ Zambrano said. “All they have to do is bring me the contract.’‘

in the middle of a pennant race, only someone as stupid as say, Karim Garcia, would say otherwise. -You have to say you want to be there while going for a title. -That said, if they pay him, he very well might stay, but I have to believe with the addition of texiera, unless something crazy happens with Atlanta’s payroll, if we want him next year he’s all ours. -NY is more latin friendly, we have a new park coming, obviously there’s a latin flare to our team, and we have a looser vibe that’s more characteristic of big Z then the yanks have (even if they didn’t have the stupid DH over in the jr circuit) I also enjoy run on sentences and trying to fit “latin” into my post as much as possible…plus, I have a feeling Carlos would find a few restaurants he digs in the apple…

Carlos Zambrano will be a Met next year. So will Eric Byrnes. Mark my words.

Oh and GD, let me make a correction in your run-on sentence – you mean “Latin flair,” not “Latin flare,” like the thing you strike on the ground, light and place on the road behind your car if it gets disabled at night, to signal other drivers behind you. :)
