“Why stop now? Why think we have it made now? We have to continue to push. We wanted to start playing better coming out of the break and we’ve done that. But, we’re not playing as well as we can.’’ – Manager Willie Randolph’s response to the post-game question I asked that if he felt the team was starting to come together after winning 10 of 15 games.

A perfect answer. They are playing better, but they have not yet been as consistent as in 2006 . The Cub announcers gave the Mets great credit for wearing out Zambrano. He was unhittable but gone in the 6th. We haven’t seen patience against a starter like that since last year.
Sounds like Willie’s not going to be complacent, even with the recent .667, ‘86-like’ burst. I’m glad Willie feels that way, esp when he said that they’re “not playing as well as we could.” Good for you Willie, push ‘em till they get it right.
And it sure is good to see Delgado NOT swinging at every pitch that comes his way. His success with the bat is key. And his fielding appears to have returned back to normal, too. Maybe the HoJoMoJo has taken root?
