By the Numbers: Off the pace

4: Games the Mets are off last year’s pace at the same time.

That doesn’t seem so bad when you think of how erratic they have been. The biggest difference is at this time last season the Mets held a 12-game lead in the division.

Should the Mets hold serve and win the division, the turning point will be not losing substantial ground during their miserable June.
